I hope everyone had an awesome weekend. Don’t be so grumpy on a Monday because tomorrow’s a holiday (and also my sister’s birthday) or be grumpy at our president because we could have had it all a.k.a. a long weekend. Spent the weekend in Zambales where I saw this island shaped like a shoe, googled and found out that it’s called Capones Island. If it was entirely up to me I’d call it the Imelda Island and put a museum with Imelda’s shoes there. Walalungs.
Hello, I just came back from a book-hunting trip to TriNoma to try to get all of the books in Patrick Ness’ Chaos Walking trilogy. I went through all of the bookstores inside but none of them had the whole set and it was frustrating. I have a particular quirk towards trilogies and book series, I have to have the whole set before I could start on it. This particular quirk can be attributed to that time in college when a friend persuaded me to read The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He initially gave me three books including the prequel to the trilogy, The Hobbit and promised to give the fourth one soon. That fourth book is the second book in the trilogy and until now I still don’t have it and I still haven’t read the three other books that he gave me and I don’t plan to anymore.
Books are also fakkin’ expensive. One book in the Chaos Walking trilogy costs Php450 and if I can’t get the whole set in one go (with uniform minimalist covers) then sorry Mr. Ness but I’d very much rather hold onto my money and read the eBooks that my good friend Abi sent me.
Summer’s definitely here and it’s so fakkin hot in Manila these days. This is something that we do at the apartment to ‘perk up’ our drinks and make them extra refreshing.
Slice a lemon and put the slices in a liter of water for a day. After a day, take the lemon slices out and you’ll have lemon-infused water (duh) . Now you may add sugar for a liter of instant lemonade but what we do is we freeze this lemon-infused water on ice trays. When this mixture turns into ice you have an instant ‘perker upper’ (lolz) which you can put in water, iced tea and surprisingly even in soda. I usually put two cubes in a glass of water for an extra refreshing drink.
Thank God it’s (almost) Friday! Look at what came in the mail today, cheers to international gala(s) in 2012!
This weekly dose of cuteness is brought to you by the baby siblings who have just discovered that standing next to a mirror will let them have ‘twins.’
It has been over a month since my last Mema Mondays post and I miss it. Another thing I miss is hoarding books from the awesomest Booksale branch over at SM Far-view. I am now far from Far-view and the Booksale branches near me aren’t as awesome. I was able to get a Chuck Norris book from Booksale’s Megamall branch last weekend, I wanted to add a Michael Moore book to my purchase but everything in that branch was expensive (read: over a hundred bucks) so I’ll save my money for Far-view.
The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book: 101 of Chuck’s Favorite Facts and Stories by Chuck Norris (Php115)
The ~hipster in me bought this keyboard ring at The Reading Room in Cubao Expo. Guess how much it is.
I like dashes, I like hyphenating words, this ring’s awesome.
First time to see something like this inside a public restroom, do people actually steal these fixtures? Photo snapped inside the girls’ restroom at Shopwise Cubao.
I’m sure this is not a first world problem. *SEGUE* Speaking of first world problems, go take a look at my new favorite site, First World Problems. This will be another visit-this-daily site along with Clients From Hell, PostSecret, FMyLife, My Life Is Average, Texts From Last Night, and Thought Catalog.
Was tired of the usual fast food choices available in SM Far-view after my work out last night (pa-fit pwe) so I decided to just go to the grocery and make a sandwich for myself at home. And by sandwich I mean Gardenia’s Soft Delight pandesal, corned beef, cucumbers and tomatoes. I’m proud of my creation and creativity (lelz) that’s why I’m posting it here for all the innernetz to appreciate.
Really, I should consider joining Master Chef.
Moving out in less than a week! Think I’ll be living off sandwiches for some time till I figure out cooking. Any tips / recipes gais?
